Is DREADMOOR Co-Op or Single-Player Only?

DREADMOOR is single-player only. Steam lists no co-op or multiplayer mode, and the boat, story and economy are built around one angler.

Last Updated: 2026-10-30

Quick answer: DREADMOOR is single-player only. Steam lists Single-player as the only play mode, there is no co-op or multiplayer menu in the demo, and no shared-boat or PvP mode has been announced.

Checked against the store and demo

The Steam category list includes Single-player, Steam Cloud, Family Sharing and controller support. It does not include Multi-player, Co-op or Online Co-op.

This is not a technical limitation the studio forgot to mention. Dream Dock's design depends on being alone on the water: the fog, the radio, the hold full of fish and the thing moving under the boat. A second player turns that into a different game.

"Face mutated creatures across sea and land and move carefully through a divided world where resources are scarce, and trust is fragile." — DREADMOOR on Steam

Does DREADMOOR have co-op?

No. There is no co-op campaign, no shared world and no drop-in partner. The demo's main menu has a single Continue/New Game flow, and the boat is controlled by one player at the helm.

The Steam store is the authoritative list. It shows:

  • Single-player
  • Steam Achievements
  • Full controller support
  • DualShock and DualSense support
  • Save Anytime
  • Steam Cloud
  • Family Sharing

No multiplayer category appears. That is unusual only if you expected co-op; for a survival fishing game, solo is a coherent design.

Why single-player suits the game

DREADMOOR's loop is quiet. You steer a trawler, listen to the engine, pick a fishing spot and fight a fish on a line. The horror comes from isolation and from not knowing what is under the hull. Two players talking over the radio would break most of that.

The economy also assumes one boat and one debt. You owe the traders for the essence injection that keeps the Sea Blight at bay. A co-op partner would either duplicate that debt or remove the pressure entirely.

The story page and the characters page go deeper into the isolation theme. The short version: the game is about a lone angler in a drowned world, and the mechanics reinforce it.

What about multiplayer mods?

None exist for the demo, and the game is not built on a networked framework. A community co-op mod after launch is possible in the way it is possible for any PC game, but it would be a large project, not a toggle.

Do not buy DREADMOOR expecting a mod to add co-op soon. If co-op is a hard requirement, this is not the game for you.

What can you do with friends instead?

Play side by side and compare catches. The game has no leaderboard, but the fishing minigame is easy to watch and the species names are memorable. Streaming it on Discord works because the audio and fog do most of the atmosphere.

You can also share the free demo with a friend and compare how far each of you gets before the Throat. It costs nothing to try it together.

Family Sharing and Steam Cloud

Family Sharing is supported, so a household can share one copy, but only one person can play at a time. Steam Cloud keeps saves synced between PCs. "Save Anytime" is listed as a feature, which matters for a game with long sailing stretches.

There is no cross-save to console because there is no console version. The PS5 and Xbox page covers that.

No offline co-op either

The single-player design is not a lobby that happens to be empty. There is no split-screen, no local co-op and no second player slot in the boat.

Will co-op come in Early Access?

No co-op has been announced for Early Access or 1.0. The Early Access page lists the confirmed scope: one region, core loop, 6–12 months of balance and polish. Multiplayer is not on that list.

If the studio changes its mind, it would be a major post-launch feature, not a small patch. Treat "single-player only" as the plan for the foreseeable future.
