DREADMOOR Map and Locations Guide
Every DREADMOOR location confirmed in the demo, from the Slough and Angler's Island to the Throat, plus how the map and fast travel work.
Quick answer: The demo covers the Slough, a starting backwater with Angler's Island, a ruined church settlement, the trading post at Betsy & Sons and the Throat gate. Sludgebet lies beyond the gate but is not playable in the demo. There is no full world map yet.
The demo is one region, not the full Early Access map. Locations beyond the Throat are story teasers.

DREADMOOR's map is a waterway, not an open world, and the free demo shows the whole Slough region. You follow channels, pass gates and dock at islands. The boat is the only way to travel safely, which makes the map feel like a route rather than a field.

The Slough
The Slough is where you wake up. It is a shallow, foggy backwater with a shack, a pier and enough Snapper to learn the fishing loop. The beginner guide covers the opening route; the demo walkthrough covers the full story path.
It is also the safest area in the demo. Use it to practise casting, landing and processing before you venture into predator water.
The name is easy to miss. The game calls it "the Slough", not "the Slow"; the pronunciation is the same, the spelling is not. Dream Dock uses the same spelling in its setting notes.
Angler's Island
Angler's Island is a submerged memorial island. The coral glows at night and regrows every 2–3 in-game days.
What to do here:
- Harvest coral fibre for John's still and hull repairs.
- Read the memorial markers for lore.
- Look for salvage along the shoreline.
- Come back after a couple of days for more coral.
The island is safe by day. At night, the glowing coral is easier to see but the water is more dangerous. Bring the boat close and do not swim.
The church settlement
The church settlement is a ruin, not a quest hub. It shows what the Sea Blight did to the region and provides salvage.
There is no vendor or bed here. Treat it as a stop on the route, not a base.
The blight fog is the hazard. Do not linger in it without medicine or a plan.
The trading post
The trading post is the demo's hub. It sits on and around Betsy, a giant crab, and contains:
- Betsy & Sons General Store — Gil, Boza, contracts, supplies.
- The flop house — bed, sleep, skip night.
- The dry dock — boat repairs and modules.
- John's shack — the engineer and his still.
- The fuel pump — feed the fuel larva.
- The radio tower — story contact.
If you are lost, return here. Every main quest passes through the trading post.
The Throat
The Throat is an ancient rivergate with two water wheels, a generator and a control panel. It is the demo's final puzzle area.
The goal is to restore power, repair the buckets and thermal coil, route water to both wheels and open the gates. The Throat guide covers the sequence.
Beyond the gate is deep water and the road to Sludgebet.
Sludgebet
Sludgebet is the large settlement beyond the Throat. The demo ends before you reach it.
From dialogue, it is ruled by the Baron, has fuel and boarding crews and is the biggest trading opportunity in the region. Expect it to be the Early Access hub.
Do not expect to visit in the demo. The gate closing is the ending.
Is there a map screen?
The demo does not give you a full world map. Navigation is visual: follow the channels, look for landmarks and use the compass at the top of the screen.
The compass shows direction and distance to your objective, not a minimap. If you are lost, head back to the trading post and re-read the quest text.
A proper map may arrive in Early Access. For now, treat the waterways as a route you learn by sailing.
Route through the demo
- The Slough — tutorial, Snapper, first tools.
- Trading post — radio, essence, store, John.
- Angler's Island — coral for the still.
- Church settlement — blight lore, salvage.
- Trading post — dry dock, engine, hull.
- The Throat — generator puzzle, gates.
- Deep water — demo ends.
This is not a strict order; you can explore side channels. But the still quest and the engine gate the later route.
